What I’ve Read Lately: January Edition

I love to read and in my new-found time as I’ve reduced my mental load, I’ve found myself reading so much more. Its how I practice mindfulness and relax at the end of the day. I read while waiting for a doctor’s appointment, before bed, while Ty makes dinner and the kids enjoy TV time and sometimes when the kids nap (if I’m not napping myself!). I borrow most of my books from friends - the ladies in my neighborhood and my babysitter-friend and I trade books or I get them for free via the Libby app and read them on my kindle.

January Books! What I've read this month.

The Five Star Weekend by Elin Hilderbrand

I really enjoyed kicking off the year with this one. Most of Elin’s books are set at the coast and this one was no different. I loved this idea of a five star weekend with best friends from different seasons of life. Of course, the book offers a surprising twist with a secret life and surprise guest. But in real life, I hope to do this one day and predict it will be an “IT” thing to do in the coming year.

Without Merit by Colleen Hoover

I’m a big lover of Colleen Hoover. This one read more YA if thats your thing. For me, it was a bit slower. My favorites from her and All your Prefects and Verity.

The Wrong Family by Tarryn Fisher

If you’re looking for a good psychological thriller, this is it! I read this so fast. Lots of plot twists that will make you want to check behind every door, drawer and closet in your house!

Maybe in Another Life by Taylor Jenkins Reid.

I flew through this one too- I think I read it in a day! I really enjoyed the perspective on choices, especially as we enter into a new year. I also love her book The 7 Husbands of Evelyn Hugo if you like this one.

Up Next…

Its Always the Husband, Back in the Burbs, Everything After and the One by John Marrs.
